Just then Sam’s cell rang. The caller id showed it was Jax.

“Hello?” Sam asked.

“Just letting you know they are running more tests and aren’t letting anyone in with him for the next few hours. They’re concerned with his punctured lung.” Jax explained.

“No. But by the look on their faces, I’d say it’s bad.” Jax replied.

“Ok. Keep me posted. I’ll stay here and get some more rest.” Sam replied.

“Just remember our talk.” Jax cautioned.

Sam looked at her phone as if he could see her. “How could I forget?”

“I’ll call back as soon as I know anything else.” Jax replied.

“Ok.” Sam replied as she hung up.

“Everything ok?” Snake asked.

“More tests.” Sam replied.

“So, food?” Snake asked.

“I’m not hungry.” Sam replied.

“Beautiful, you have to eat. You got to feed that baby.” Snake reminded her.

“Ok. Sesame chicken with pork fried rice.” Sam replied.

“Ok sounds good. I’ll call it in now.” Snake replied.

“That should give me enough time to shower.” Sam replied.

Sam took her shower and wrapped a towel around her. She walked into her bedroom to get dressed. Snake was standing in her doorway again looking sexy as hell. Her eyes traveled his chest down to the bulge in his jeans.

He’s still shirtless. Her hormones were in overdrive. His bulge grew, straining against his zipper. His bright blue eyes were dark with lust. Snake’s eyes slowly traveled over every inch of Sam’s body fresh from the shower. Taking in her damp skin and towel. He has never wanted a woman as much as he wants her.

The minute he saw her he was in love with her. She was it for him, sad but true. All the air left his lungs, his heart jolted, and his brain quit functioning. In that minute, he prayed she was his woman, which made him feel guilty because his brother was in the hospital fighting for his life.

“They’re backed up. Said it will be about an hour before they can deliver.” Snake barely got out.

“Ok.” Sam replied.

Snake couldn’t stop himself from walking over to her. His heart was racing. She felt butterflies throughout her body. He stopped mere inches in front of her.

“You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” He whispered.

“Lucas, please, we can’t.” Sam whispered.

“I know. I just wanted you to know. I know you and Smokey have things to work out. I won’t get in the way of that. But I want you to know if things don’t work out, I’m here wanting you for myself. And if they do work out, I’ll still be here as a friend.” Snake explained.

“Thank you. Right now, that’s exactly what I need. A friend I can lean on.” Sam smiled.

“Just wanted you to know, I want it all with you. Wouldn’t even mind sharing you with Smokey if he’d agree. I won’t pressure you or take advantage of your vulnerable state. I just want you to know where I stand.” Snake repeated.

“Lucas, I..” Sam started.

Snake cut her off. “No. Don’t say anything now. You have things to work out, and I’ll be by your side to help with whatever you need.” Snake replied.

“Thank you! You have been so good to me. It’s nice to have someone to lean on.” Sam smiled.

“I never did get to apologize for all the crap Ivy pulled. You will never know how sorry I am that I brought her into your life. I should have ended that a long time ago.” Snake sighed.

“You have nothing to apologize for. There was no way for you to know what she was capable of. You need to let that go and not blame yourself. Move on from it. I have.” Sam replied.

“I just wish I knew why Adrian did what he did. I mean did I do something or not do something? Did he even think about what it would do to me, to us? I don’t think I will ever get that image out of my head.” Sam sobbed.

“Sam? If you were mine, I couldn’t bare for another woman’s hands to be on me. But I also didn’t have anyone in my past like he did either. But me, I’d hate it and feel like I betrayed you. So don’t you dare for one minute think it’s something you didn’t do or did wrong. What happened is on him.” Snake explained.

“I don’t know what I’m most afraid of. Him still having feelings for her, or him being able to cheat on me so easily. Or maybe I’m not the one for him. If I were, he couldn’t do that to me right?” Sam asked.

“Only he can answer those questions. I wish I had the answers for you, but I don’t.” Snake replied.

Sam decided she needed to talk to her girls. They made a date for 8pm at her house. That way Kim’s shop would be closed, and Raine’s son would be ready for bed. The girls arrived looking at Snake and Sam wondering what was going on.

“I’ll go to the store and get those supplies you need and give you ladies time to talk.” Snake replied.

“Thanks Lucas.” Sam replied.

As soon as he left Raine and Kim giggled and fan their faces.

“That man is H O T hot!” Raine sighed.

“Is he living here now? Your own personal hunk show?” Kim asked.

“Let’s sit and talk. I need to exercise my brain before it explodes.” Sam huffed.

“So, he is staying here.” Raine guessed.

“Yeah, in your old room.” Sam agreed.

“That’s just your pregnancy hormones talking. Plus, Ice being gone for two days. You must be sex starved.” Raine rolled her eyes.
