“You have no idea.” Raine whispered back.

“Rainelle! What happened to our Samantha?” Mrs. Armstrong asked with her nose stuck up in the air.

“Yes, what happened? The hospital called to tell us she had been attacked and was unconscious. Since we’re her parents they called us.” Mr. Armstrong explained.

“Some crazy woman attacked her.” Raine replied.

“My God! Do the police have her in custody?” Mr. Armstrong asked.

“No. They are searching for her.” Raine replied.

“Incompetent people! I swear, we’re surrounded by them!” He retorted.

“Look, right now we are just trying to focus on Sam and her injuries.” Raine explained.

“Armstrong family?” Dr. Mike asked from the doorway.

“Yes!” Sam’s parents respond.

“Yes!” Smokey replied as well.

They looked at him with disgust.

“I’m Sam’s boyfriend. We live together.” Smokey replied.

“Well, you’re not family!” Mrs. Armstrong snorted.

“Yes, doctor only immediate family allowed please!” Mr. Armstrong demanded.

“I’m afraid that will be up to the patient since she’s an adult and conscious now.” The doctor replied.

“And Sam will throw a major fit when she finds out you’re trying to keep us from her. We are her family now!” Raine retorted.

“And look where that got her!” Mrs. Armstrong retorted.

“I just wanted to let everyone know that Sam was awake now and doing well. She does have a concussion, and multiple bruises, but those will heal.” Dr. Mike replied.

“Can we see her?” Mr. Armstrong asked.

“Of course. We have all her testing done and she’s in a room now. We’ll keep her for 24 hours to monitor her for internal bleeding and her concussion.” Dr. Mike explained.

“Thank you, doctor.” Mrs. Armstrong replied saccharin sweetly.

Sam’s parents followed the doctor to her room. Smokey, Raine and the rest follow behind them. Her parents stopped in the doorway as Sam spoke.

“Mom, dad? What in the hell are you doing here?” Sam demanded.

The rest of them were standing in the hall listening to the conversation.

“Where’s Adrian? ADRIAN!” Sam yelled.

“Who?” Her mom asked as Smokey was pushing his way to Sam’s bedside.

“Adrian is my boyfriend.” Sam replied.

He picked up her hand, bent down, and lightly kissed her lips.

“Samantha Jane! Why are you hanging around with these.. these bikers?” Her dad demanded.

“We raised you better than this! I’m so disappointed in you right now!” Her mother acted offended.

Jax grabbed Raine and held her back from storming into the room and going after the old bird.

“Mom, Dad, I am a grown woman and can be with whoever I want to! They are good people. You don’t know them and have no right to judge them! As for being disappointed? Ask me if I give a damn? Because I’ve been disappointed in you both must my life! Guess we’re even!” Sam retorted.

“Young lady you will watch how you talk to us! Soon as that doctor releases you, we are taking you home!” Her dad ordered.

“And your dad will introduce you to some nice suitable men you can marry.” Her mom replied.

Now Snake and Hawk are holding Smokey back. He’s about to rip into her parents.

“NO! Like hell you will!” Sam hollered.

“Excuse me?” Her mom asked.

“Your hearing going on your old age? You heard me. I live here! I am not going to your house! I’m twenty-four years old and you can’t order me to do a damn thing!” Sam retorted.

“I love Smokey and he loves me. And we live together!” Sam rubbed it in.

“Samantha Jane!” Her dad tsked.

“Thought you said Adrian?” Her mom asked.

“Oh, his biker’s name is Smokey.” Sam grinned then winces in pain.

“You will stop all this nonsense and come home with us immediately! Look where this life got you. Attacked and in a hospital!” Her dad retorted.

“No!” Sam replied again.

“Fine. Go ahead. Have you not noticed not a single penny has come out of my account you set up? Or how long I have lived on my own with my own money?” Sam asked.

“You’ll come to us begging to take you back when this biker trash gets tired of you and dumps you for his next tramp!” Her mom huffed.

“Never! I’d go homeless first. And you can take your money and disappointment and shove it up your snooty judgmental asses!” Sam retorted.

The rest of the crew walked into her room. Some laughing. Raine walked over to her.

The nurse brought her some pain medicine for her IV. And she also brought same some ice water with instructions to drink it to keep the meds from upsetting her stomach.

“Well hell!” Sam retorted. “My parents ruined it!”

“What do you mean?” Raine asked.

“I was gonna pretend I had amnesia.” Sam smirked.

“Me too!” Snake agreed.

“Raine!” Jax warned.
